lala.com – its pretty cool

Quick! Do you like music?

Of course you do! If you don’t you’re probably either deaf or some barely functioning tree man. Anyway, as a music loving individual you probably want your music to be portable so that you can listen to it on the go. iPods are the solution for listening on the go and they are great, but they only have a limited amount of space (especially the solid state stuff like nanos and iPhones). A few days ago I signed up for this site called lala.com.

If you let it, it can look through your music folder and check against it servers, which then gives you the ability to listen to all of the music online. If their server’s don’t have the music, your computer then uploads it. Having a completely mobile library of literally ALL of your music is pretty rad. It’s free so go check it out. Less exciting, lala also gives you the ability to buy music from them.

Albums for $5 on Amazon mp3 store.

slumdog-album-coverAmazon has a pretty good deal going on right now where they have a bunch of stuff for sale on their MP3 store. I just picked up the Soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire, which was a great movie and had a fantastic soundtrack. Best part is that the whole album was only $5! Very nice!

Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavilion

After their last album Strawberry Jam, I’ve been really into Animal Collective. Well now they have a NEW album coming out on Jan. 20th, and everyone with a lick of sense should go and buy it. I plan to get it from amazon via their MP3 download service. It’s usually cheaper than iTunes and the songs are a higher bit rate so that it sounds nicer. Pitchfork has given the album a score of 9.6, which for them is a ridiculously high score. Go preorder this shit it is, as the kids say, “the new joint”.

Rivers Cuomo finds friends – Nov. 25

Rivers Cuomo’s second home recordings album is going to be coming out in a few weeks but hes got one of the songs already up on his myspace page so you can give it a listen if you’d like. I think its pretty good.

From his interview with pitchfork, it sounds like the whole album is shaping up to be pretty great. In the interview both guys say that they prefer Alone 2 over the original. I really enjoyed the last one so this is pretty exciting.

Of Montreal – Skeletal Lamping

A band I like, Of Montreal, has just released their new album: Skeletal Lamping. Pitchfork only gave it a 5.9 but they are douchetools so I’m going to buy it anyway.  Shit, its only $8.99 for the MP3s from Amazon. BUY IT!

New Final Fantasy EP

Last night I picked up Spectrum, 14th Century which is the new EP from Final Fantasy the one man band by musician Owen Pallett. Of the included 5 songs, I think my favorite is The Butcher which is a brilliant tune about the end of the world and, what I gather from the lyrics, a priest that turns to cannibalism. Its a really great song and has wonderful vocals and really interesting violin riffs.

Spectrum, 14th Century is only $4.95 on Amazon’s Music store. Check it out.

Weezer Pork and Beans Video

Here is the new video from Weezer’s single “Pork and Beans”. Its nice to see Weezer flexing their nerd muscles again. The video is a cavlecade of internet jokes with the band integrated into them. Good job guys.

Weezer

I like that a song from Weezer’s upcoming album made it onto the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue soundtrack. “Automatic”, in my opinion is a really catchy, awesome, pop song and its cool to hear the band experimenting with other band members singing (though Rivers’ vocals are always my favorite). I don’t even mind that its a remixed version.

The upcoming “Red” album hits shelves on June 17th. Be there. Oh, and there is another song “Pork n’ Beans” on their official website. Also pretty damn good in my opinion.

New Blog Design & Jens Lekman

Well, as you can see, I’ve updated my site to include a new design. I did the whole thing in WordPress, which is kinda crazy for me because I’ve been using blogger for like 5 or 6 years now. Anyway, hope you like pink.

Liz and I saw Jens Lekman play. It was really awesome. I hadn’t heard of him till last week. PJ let me borrow his iPod so I could listen to some of his stuff at work. I thought it was pretty cool and I must say, I’m really glad we went to the show.
